Apologies in advance for what will be a muted presence here for the rest of the month, as I'm guest-editing Publishers Lunch until August 28th and there's the usual crop of expected and unexpected deadlines. There are some things in the works - I'm reading Thomas Pynchon's INHERENT VICE and should have plenty to say on that front, not to mention there are some real-life crime-related stories to comment on - and the Sunday updates will remain as overstuffed as ever, but add "scattershot" to "smatterings" and that's the general gist of the moment.
You will be missed! I am so happy to have stumbled upon this space last year. I have learned of so many good titles through your work, and always look forward to what you have to say. Keep up the good work!

Don't stay away too long. I just found this sight a month ago and I really enjoy it. So much good information.
